What size rims was he running those 33X14 boggers on???

They look like 15X10's to me, with the old 33X14 boggers. I reckon that it would be "not recommended" to fit a 14.0 on a 8.00" rim. Tims overall width here is not much different to yours (car, that is) so to do that with a 14.00 tyre I reckon we are looking @ a 10" rim with around 4" of backspace.
Boggers in that sizing tend to be a bit short too, so I'd be going to the 35 10.5 on what you have now.
