tube frame buggy 4x4 for comps....

Post by Eddywelder »

I went up to rover park for the p.u.o.s.u rock crawling event last weekend...I must say that I enjoyed the event very much and think that I have caught the bug to think about building a chassis/tube frame 4x4 buggy in the style of many of the cars that were competing there....Being a fabricator welder by trade and having experience in building roll cage/ chassis many years ago in off road racing...
Anyway my question for those in the know is are there enough events and competitions closer to sydney to justify the time and expense needed to build one of these from ground up...
My idea at present is a tube frame roll cage fabricated onto a 4x4 chassis (possibly toyota)or should I just fabricate the entire chassis from scratch.....???
all info ideas or advice most appreciated ....thanks everyone
regards Eddy.

i went up to PUOSU too, was awesome!!!

i don't think there's anything around sydney that caters for buggy's yet, but i know a few of the boys have been pushing for it for a while... after PUOSU there's bound to be a bit more support!!

i reckon go full tube chassis, gives you all the options to make it completely custom, not limited by what u start with. tony won it with a fully tube buggy, but then again gonads went damn well, and beebee mighta won if he hadn't DNF'd on saturday

Tis a shame eddy , Nothing in sydney area for buggys have a look at compertitions and events thread , not really muchh comp in nsw at all, about 5 a year all around the last 5 months , you need rego for all of them .
The new ccda thing might be allowing unreg class in the future ,

Its probly time to start a competition oriented rockcrawling club, that caters for Comp rockrawling, All comps in nsw are run by clubs exept
Tuff Truck .

So until a club with like minded people get together can,t see it happening , I would like to see it Like they have it up there , done in rounds. I rekon i would probly biuld a buggy for it myself -
I,d like TT keep the rego rules though , JMO.
