Hi Lux L.S.D carrier fitted to a 100 series front diff

Post by jono »

I have heard on the grape vine you can fit a Hi Lux L.S.D carrier to a 100 series front diff. Does any one out there know what model Hi Lux the carrier comes out off and what modifications are needed to fit in with the 100 series diff. I believe this modification makes the 100 series front diff alot stronger. I was also curious whether this is true or not? I look forward to your replies.
Thanks in advance

yes it can be done to a 105 series but not sure about the size of the diff in the endependent front 100 series. the one you want is from a V6 or turbo diesel 4 runner/hilux, or later bundera. (post '86). it is stronger than the stock centre as the LSD uses 4 spider gears but the limited slip action is fairly poor in the toyota centres, it wouldn't really be an economical swap.

cheers
