What's the lightest 35" tyre out there, assuming it would be a skinny one- for a roof mounted spare?

How about running a 16X6" alloy rim and a 9.00X16 truck tyre. I'm sure that some 35 12.5's might be lighter but they will be whole lot more bulky.
Also, the 9.00 could be squeezed onto a split rim, while this is not in itself lighter, the combination of a narrow many plied tyre and the split rim will mean that it is a very repairable option.
Otherwise, maybe an all terrain?

Yeah I was thinking an 8.25 x 16 as it's about 34" whereas the 9.00 x 16 is 37" but they are heavy suckers. If I can find a cheap 16x6 or 16x7 alloy will probably still go this way.
Anything else out there like Simex or something that would be skinny but lighter than truck tyre?

9:00/16 mounted on a split rim is very F***** heavy. A hell of a lot heavier than a 35x12.5 mounted on a steel sunrasia rim. Maybe you can buy a cheap secondhand aluminium 15x8 rim just for the spare if you want to minimise weight on the roof.

Agree, because if it's ply rating some can be twice the weight of a 35

Just find an old 12.5 and put it on the roof
