rocker cover leaks

I had a slow leak at the back of the rocker cover. so I checked the gasket and tightened it up. went for a drive and after about 20 kms oil starts pissing out everywhere. I then recalled hearing someone say that this happens if they are over tightened. Is the rocker cover stuffed, or do I just need to loosen it off?
Thanks

Your cover won't be stuffed just your gasket. Replace it won't cost u much at all

correct...do not over tighten the bolts...nip them up untill they are firm then torque them to 7 ft/lbs......another half turn...
use a new gasket and use silicon around the camshaft rise...

I replaced the gasket yesterday. It was split in half.
