Trimatic into Hilux

Post by vrunner »

I would like to adapt a trimatic auto to a gear driven hilux transfer case. The reason for this is I have already got a holden V8 engine that is trimatic pattern and want to put this in the Hilux. I know I can get an adaptor to go to turbo pattern but I'm trying to keep costs down.

Does anybody sell such an adaptor or how hard would it be to make this myself. I know Ruff has commented on a similar type of conversion in the past but I was unable to find the thread.

Any help anyone can offer would be great.

Cheers

Thanks for the info Daryl

I'll look into this but I'm not sure if it will suit my application. I intend to run dual case which increases the drivetrain length by about 6 inches. This along with the distance required for the drive shaft between the trans and t/case may make the drivetrain too long. Still it is well worth considering.

dual trans

Post by toysuzi »

ill check the lenght of a trimatic during the week & get back to you

you may find that you would get away with the extra lenght of the tail shaft & duals

if you use the turbo 700 & marks trans adaptor kit it would end up around the same lenght as the (trimatic & devorced kit)

but ill get the trimatic & turbo 700 lenght
just to give you an idea

im thinking of going the trimatic & devorced trans kit
if i cannot get a bellhousing for the r150 to sr20

ive found a machine shop that make custom trimatic bellhousings for drag cars.

v8 holden pattern to trimatic
ford cleveland to trimatic
hemi v8 to trimatic
ford 6cyl to trimatic
rb30 turbo VL to trimatic
fj20 turbo to trimatic
