askn those that know if bj42 & fj40 diff ratios are the same or any other info can a 42 rear diff fit a 40 nfront cheers.
bj40 and fj40 have different diff ratio's as the bj is a deisel and fj are petrols a 42 series diff from what i remember will fit but check ratio's first

i have a feeling that all mid-late 4x series imported to aus have 4.11:1 ratio including fj and bj models. 55 and 60 models got the same ratios too. Later model fj series imported to canada and the states and other places got 3.70:1 from the mid-late 70s onwards.
The axle designation on the id plates on the firewall should get you the info, if you just make sure that the numbers match b4 you swap them out.
