crankshaft?? seal
crankshaft?? seal
got leak? oil's flowin outta the front of my lil 1.3, looks like it's coming from behind the bottom of the timing belt area...
has been suggested to me that it's a crankshaft seal - was talking to a bearing/seal mob, they think it's listed as a timing belt oil seal, and that the "crankshaft seal" is a big heat resistant one at the rear of the engine. the one they think is right is fairly small, maybe 50-60mm across.
is this the right seal? someone should know cos it seems to be a fairly common leak...
cheers boys!

Stumped,
When I got mine, I asked for the crankshaft seal and the camshaft seal ( may as well do both if you've got the belt off ! ) from Suzisport and got the right ones.
They are fairly small, only about 500mil side to side.
Check the tensions of all the bolts under the timing belt cover when you're in there as I found three that were fairly loose
Hope this helps

Damn typo's
Just got home and measured one up
Outside diameter is 47 mm
Inside diameter is 30 mm
For the 1.6 the camshaft and crankshaft seals are the same. Prob the same for the 1.3 i 'spose

oil leak
hey stumped hows it going ?
ive had two swifts into work with the same problem
there is an alloy plate that bolts behined your timing belt cover
that the front main seal is held in
the 10m bolts that hold it to the block work loose hence the leak. so check them you should be able to tighten most without removing the timing belt cover
if you need a hand drop around my joint im at medowie ill fix it for you
regards daryl
