Will GQ doors fit on MQ

Post by kc_ksom »

Howdy

Just wondering if the GQ doors will fit in my MQ, as you cant buy 1/4 window rubbers, this seems the only thing to do???..

One can even reskin the MQ door with the GQ skin as MQ skins are hard to get hold of.
There is zero differance betwen the two door skins and there is also zero differance between the door frames either.

The only thing that is differant is the 1/4 window ...... the GQ doesnt have one !

There is a slight differance on the inside skin but nothing to worry about.
I have been running MQ doors now for 5 years. I wouldnt cut down a GQ door, too $$$$.

Most easilly noticeable thing is that the GQ body sits a few inches further foward on the chassis than the MQ. Its supprising the amount of stuff thats interchangeble

No side intrusion bars in GQ doors, just have to use the original hinges and locking/striker mechanism to keep them legal.

My 89 GQ LWB has got intrusion bars in the front doors.
I thought the ADR became applicable in the early nineties. Cant be buggered checking right now though....

GQs did come out with quarter window doors in the earlier models, ( OZY1's ) LWB has look a like MQ doors.

GQ bodys are the same physical size except the panels are flared out more to suit the wider GQ track.

Other size u can more or less interchange the bodys ( i.e bolt a GQ body to MQ chassis and Visa versa, You would only have to modify the body monuts but it will look perfect.
