try triumph/rover spares. never delt with them but they appear to stock both short and long rover v8 motors from looking at their website. No idea of the quality though.
We've been thinking of getting one of their 4.9l high compression short blocks. But since we have no idea about them and that their based in another state we are quite hesitant.
From personal experience I would strongly advise not to use Triumph. I'm not going to go into details (its been discussed before) but i do not know of one Land Rover workshop in Melbourne who think highly of them.

their is a 5.2 getting around aint no rumour either i think it has about 230kw at the wheels the motor is yet to be run in.

Chev was never an option, too much modification required and despite it's faults, that little Rover engine is a bloody good thing if you look after it!
Some of the other parts on the car leave a lot to be desired though.

it's all the small shitty typical land rover things that tend to stuff up when u least want them to.

I know who the distributor for RPI in Australia is ... i got a 3.9 with 4.6 heads of them and it is smooth and quiet .. no holden lifter problems and everything fits together peoperly ... just running it in now ...
the bottom end was 3600 and the heads were 900 a pair, etc ..
