Reduction Gearing

I went for a fourby with my father in law the other day and it was obvious that his 80 series had much better low gearing than my Feroza (obviously). On all the hills he didnt even need to use the brakes.
My thoughts were that the gears in the transfer case were responsible for this but i am unsure if this is correct and how it actually works?

generally yes, it is also the diff gear ratios.
There is nothing available aftermarket for em. (I asked about a higher 5th gear once) Therefore it is custom all teh way $$$$$$

So how do you go about getting different diff gear ratios anyway if there's no aftermarket stuff for them?

Diff gears aren't the problem with 80's there's options for that like some 4o series stuff etc fits.
It's transfer gearing that doesn't exist

youve also got a little engine that will run away under the weight of the feroza more then a landcruizer. down real steep suff in the suzi regularly runs past 4000rpm if I let it.

You can get the Cruiser Crawler from Marks - 205% reduction
But it is around $3000

Getting back to Lowndsie.....
Your F.I.L.'s 80, was it diesel? More compression makes crawling down hills alot easier. Yours being a petrol will put you behind the 8 ball a touch when going downhill.

Yeah it was a turbo diesel....
thats a good point too. wonder what the difference would be between the petrol 80 and a diesel 80?
