What would you do?
I have been toying with this idea/dilemma for a few months now. Do I sell the paj or keep it? I love pajeros and have had numerous with my current one is the best by far. The shorty has limited room (hard to go away for more than a few days), leather trim that burns ya arse on hot days anf ifs. I was very keen on a sas but unfortunately there is zero chance of engineering it in Qld.
Patrol will be the car of choice next time around. A ute most likely as its easy to run through the books. Not to mention and endless supply of parts and mods to suit.
My current paj cost me 25K and I have 8K in receipts in the last 12 months. As a trade its worth 23K but they are not interested in the lockers, bars, wheels, uhf etc. (Can sell for 3-4K)
Its a bloody hard decision because I am 50/50 about it. Apart from never owning a nissan before, I have never had a diesel either....
What would you guys do?

Grant it is a tough one mate....................
Why not compromise and trade the shorty in a NL lwb GLX or Escape and swap your stuff over ??
As Shane keeps telling me with the SAS everyones gonna be expecting it to drive everything now but with the IFS and twin lockers it just surprised people and if you did get stuck "well it's only a Poojabber"
A GU is a top truck and strong as but I just couldn't part with the Paj.

Thats what I love with the pajero. The look on everyones face when you drive a good hill effortlessly. Ideally i am trying to convince the wife to drive the pajero, sell her car and buy me a nissan... Shes not against it, but its definately going to be a big job convincing her.....
The Paj thing is in my blood.. My old man was driving them since the early 80's when the 4wd scene was just beginning and over the years we have always managed to have one for nightruns and gymkhanas.
Hey Shane. So what car dealership is in your front yard? You seem to have one of everything. How many kms has your shorty done now? I remember seeing yours on a logan or suzuki night run back in the very early 90's that fueled my need for a red shorty...
I like the nissan utes. Mate has a new St that we took to cruiser park a few weeks back. It was lifted and locked and I was very suprised at how easily it drove the obstacles. And onroad, it seemed just as good as the paj. Plus the wife road in the patrol most of the day instead of with me in the paj. The paj went everywhere the ute went but a couple of areas required numerous attempts before making it.
Maybe shane could give me a job with a company patrol ute or swb pajero and my problems are solved....

being only 23 and onto my second pajero i wouldnt want anything else. its like a disease. ive loved them ever since my uncle bought a brand new NF in 1989.
I agree with bitsamissin, get a wagon and swap all the stuff over. You may regret being out bush in your patrol ute and seeing a pajero have just as much fun as you.

Lack of space is a bit of a bugger, but with a bit of planning (and removal of the rear seats) we packed enough camping gear and grog for 10 days on the road. We even discussed it, and the girlfriend couldn't think of anything (other than MORE CLOTHES ) that she wanted to bring.
Yes, packing would be easier in a larger vehicle, but it's also heavier from the start, and it only encourages you to throw in crap you don't really need.
I reckon I'll have this shorty a while longer yet - how much for a diesel conversion? And that SAS thing is looking pretty good too!
Cheers,
Scott
