3 longside ones on 39.5's. allthough one was broken due to not running a lower knuckle bearing (the rocks wre calling and the bearing was smashed, so what can you do)
so 2 real breakages. both smashed the shit out of the star/race and fawked the inner axle and seal.
it is crazy how much of a flogging they can take before they let go, they are not that large of a joint.

have done one with 33 muddies. i suspect that it was due to my brakes over heating though. cause the cv had a ring of rainbow colour stuff, you know when you put a flame to metal, and i wasn't giving it that hard a time when it let go. i think it may have been weakend or cracked from getting really hot then driving through a creek.

2 longside ones, first was on 33's , the second was on 35's. both times the star broke but only ruined inner axle the first time.

Have any of you guys tried CORE cv's or similar?

Would be interested to hear what the next weak link is if they solve the problem, or if they are still the first part to let go.

Has anyone looked to see if there is room for a strengthening ring to be added to the cv bell in a GQ?

Cheers

are you runnnig aftermarket CV's??
smashing the bell seems pretty rare compared to breaking the star/race in the genuine ones.

Four with 33 mudders - two were aftermarket and lasted about 200km

two with 35 simexes
Star or bell will break - genuine just cracked apart, aftermarket one exploded
above occured with front locker only

Have since put in rear lockers and not broken any

I thought bout the heavy duty cv's but ive broken 2 inner axles with standard cv's. I dont mean the normal stripping of spline when cv goes but actually snapping the inner instead of breaking the cv.

Worried that if go the stronger cv's then will just snap more inner's instead.

When i talked to Russel @ opposite lock in WA he reconed that he had'nt heard of axles breakin before cvs, and was suprised that id done 2.

after waiting 3 months for them and getting "they're ready and no we're sold out and no they're not ready and they've been recalled"
i gave up on them .....

breakin the bells is better then breakin other shit anyhow ... just scrape the shit out clean it grease it and put a new one in ... will do till GU goes ahead
