speaking strictly about my mav shorty, id say 33x12.5x15 MTR's, procomp shocks and 3 inch dobinsons coils(plus whatever else i needed to complete lift) and a snorkel..
the mtr's are just awsum for everyday and offroad use, procomp shocks are bloody good, and for that size lift i wouldnt be spending up on the big tuff dog ralphs unless i was going for a bigger than 3 inch lift. and a snorkel will make air flow and river crossings etc better..
lockers are awsum in any car, but the nissan lsd is so bloody good it would be further down my list of mods than in the top 3..

aye...
when you say 3 mods.
its pretty obvious... lift and tyres are always goin to be the top two. The majority of the responses above have lift and tyres.
the 3rd mod.. that should be of personal preference... choices are ...
air locker front
air locker rear
UHF and aerial
vehicle armoury (bullbar, sliders rear bar etc)
incar entertainment
recovery gear (eg winch, recovery kit etc)
List is practically endless,
But given the choice, id' keep the wife happy by puttin an in car entertainment system consisting of a dvd or something to keep her pre occupied while you go about your business driving your toy

18" rims, cut springs to lower suspension, monster tacho with shift light - on toyota tercel
seriously what you modify depends a lot on the kind of driving you want to do. if you want to hit the rocks, tyres, gears and lockers. if sand is your thing, engine power ups will come first. if you're into mud, you're an idiot and you should give your 4WD to someone else. if you want to tour, storage, suspension and fuel range might be your priorities.

Hey there's only one way to test the side angle limits of your own 4x4
pft. limits are for the weak. upside down is where it's at! preferably caused by doing something dumb!

I'll ignore that comment...........Obviously you're just in a bad mood because your sheep rejected you today

Land Rover Discovery series 1 V8
A good driver can get a relatively stock car further or equal to a crap driver in a modded car so i would do these mods and go from there. I would also place recovery gear, uhf and compressor at the top of the list but not really a vehicle mod.
1) Buy good suspension, not necessarily that high maybe 1-2in lift soft and flexible
2) Decent tyres, not necessarily big or aggressive
3) Bullbar and rear bar
