Fuel tank pressure

Post by V8 Middy »

When I do a long highway trip or drive hard for a short period, I finish up with a huge amount of pressure in the petrol tank. Originally I thought it was to do with the new fuel pump from the V8 conv. but recently it happened on gas and then wouldn't even drive on petrol (I'm assuming due to the excess pressure)

Once it was bad enough that when I took the petrol cap off, fuel spilt out everywhere. Recently, it was still hissing 15min after I stopped the engine and petrol was dripping out from near the charcoal canister.

I have already checked that there is no blockage in the vent pipe and there is good suction from the vacuum pipe.

Suggestions??????

Gday
Check the tank cap one way valve is not blocked with muck, check the canister is not blocked aswell...sometimes the carbon inside disintergrates and gets sucked into the vacuum lines.
