Sierra brake? problems

Post by antt »

on a friends sierra, everytime you get on the brakes it pull towards the left in a bad way. we assume its a a problem with the right hand side caliper not working properly, but whats a good way to test for sure and what possibly causes it?? :?

clamp off brake lines one at a time, then test to see if its the same or worse. ( be careful and safe of course ) that will pinpoint which brake to inspect...it can be the rear causing that, too.... but Its most likely a caliper slide bolts sticking, they rust up when the seals leak and fill with mud/water, and so only brake one side of disc....this sometimes affects pedal height, too. I recently pulled mine out, sanded the slides, then assembled with better seals and greased it up(theres probly some correct oil for it, and caliper kits may come with new ones?)
christover (mine has suffered this for both reasons in the past)
