15in rims on an 80s
does anyone know if you can fit 15in rims to a later 80 series with the larger rear brakes?
There is a place in Melb (Moorabbin, Ajax Wheels) that will make 15" rims that will fit on a later 80 series without any modifications. Just need to tell what offset you require, about 20mm extra on a set of ROH Trac II rims. The last time I spoke to them I was quoted about $88 per rim.

Yeah the $88 rim sounds good, bit of extra track to, eh?
Considering the extra price and lack of tyre choices with 16", that sounds the best way to go. Don't grind the caliper if you can help it. Someone told me to use those wheel spacer things (not the bolt on ones) but apparently they aren't legal.
Josh.

Tried them but did not clear the caliper so tried two and almost cleared. Measured the thickness of spacer and equal to 6mm so 2x6mm = 12mm so I say 20 mm to be sure. 15mm may be enough but 20 sounded better.
Tony.
I have a 93 GXL which has the bigger brakes.
15 inch rims DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fit over the front brakes with NO mods needed.
But they don`t fit over the rear brakes
To make 15 inch rims fit over the rear I have a 10mm spacer that slips over the studs (yes I know they are illegal but I don`t care) then I had to grind a very small bit off the calipers, it was about 5mm long buy about 1mm deep and it was only into excess metal on the caliper not in to the body of it so to speak.
I went this way because I run beadlocked 15s on my lux and wanted to be able to run my swampers on my 80 that I run on my lux as I can not afford 2 sets of swampers.
