just got back ...
the day started off well with heaps and heaps of spectators watching the short course.
the track started on the old track one and wound its way down the gully then went up the gorge and finished with a climb up the rock wall ... very long track
i drew position 16 [last] and positioned my self at glens revenge for recovery vehicle.
the first couple of cars went through then it started spitting rain.
the next couple of cars went through and then we had a short downpour.
the next couple went through then it started to rain in earnest.
four or five cars pulled out as it was getting very slippery and by the time we started the creeks were running.
on the first down hill into track one [from the dam side] i very gingerly drove down but it became a toboggan and we hit head on into the big rock near the bottom and when we tried to reverse back the rear end slid around and we started sliding sideways down into the gully so we kept reversing to try and clear the steepest drop and managed to stay upright.
poor old chris was absolutely soaked by this time [about one minute and ten metres]
i think we hit five trees [probably looked like a pinball machine] on the way round but we managed to drive the track and we gave it heaps ... was a heap of fun ... full noise everywhere with the wheels either sliding or spinning.
jeff went first and drove the rock wall in the dry, we were the only other team to drive it so they tell me.
simon and miranda from 4wdtv were there earlier on but left when it started to rain, should be able to see some of the action on briz 31 in the near future.
after that we had to pack up as chris had to work saturday and i have to go to a work do ...
then they decided they were going to start it again on saturday morning so it looks like we miss out on any chance of getting anywhere.
trucknage :
BB broke a CV.
fester broke a front tailshaft
we bent the right hand guard past the door so i cant open the door now
Was a real pity it rained because we had a huge crowd watching.
oh yeh, ... naturally it stopped raining after we finished our turn
they wouldn't tell us any scores so we don't know how anyone went.

just got home.
BB's cab is not good. Although it doesnt look too bad, it will be easier to get a new cab. The exo did its job and absorbed a huge amount of force.
We think that a broken corefield contributed to the accident as the rig took a sudden left turn at nearly 80kph.
Damage list: 1 cv, 1 bent rear housing and broke axle, a slighlty second hand exo cage, squashed P/S cab and door frame, a bent rim, no windscreen.
Dave is ok, which goes to show the level of safety that these truck enforce. Although they wouldn't let him drive it out or back on its wheels!
All this just after picking up show awards for "best extreme 4wd" $70 and "best overall 4wd" $200. so only another $3000 and we will be ready for woodpecker, so if anyone knows of someone who might want to sponsor him, please help him out!

sorry to hear about BB's damage, sound like he will be very busy if he is going to be ready for woodpecker
[knowing those two it WILL be ready though ]
how was the weather up there on the weekend ? as much rain as there was down here ?
i suppose the creeks were all flooded

Hi everyone!
Thanks for your support especially Wes who drove back up to LCMP today to bring my hilux back. And thanks to Jake and Chris for the rums
The cab is definately a write off. Hopefully the chassis is ok. Rear housing is pretty bent and also has a snapped axle. Managed to break 2 CVs on the weekend too.
I think after the award I got in the judging events, I may stick to the show circuit
As I'm trying to turn this into a positive event, I am looking for an extra cab body to put on my chassis. This will make it much more comfortable to drive and easier to fit an internal cage into. It will also make Outback Challenge a possiblility.
I've pretty much rulled out competing at woodpecker. I just don't have the time or $$ to get it ready in 3 weeks. So as Greg said, any potential sponsors out there, get in touch. You won't get another vehicle that competes as much as us. As I put the trophies away from the weekend I counted 10 that I've received this year in something like 14 events.
So hopefully you'll all see us back soon with a nice new extra cab, cage and wealthy sponsors

Sorry it was Team Jungle bunny from Townsville that took Second.
Beebee is now out of the woodpecker team. Wes has taken his place in his Zook. Its a pitty because i think Daves rig would have done real well down there and the exposure in Sydney would have helped out his TTC chances as well.
