hilux fan help

Post by SASS »

Evening all,
just a quick question to the auto sparky gurus out there.
my fan/dimister in the lux (89 dualcab petrol) will only work on high, no mid or low.
i've pulled out the dash switch and cant find anything wrong with it.
am i missing something? i dont have a wiring diagram to look up so im pretty much stumped. any ideas?

Cheers
SASS

My Patrol did the same thing, It was a problem with water coming in through the vents into the actual fan motor, the bottom was full of rust and gunk, pulled motor to pieces, used sand paper on the armature to clean it up, bloo all the gunk out and it went fine, the motor on low/medium didn't have the OOMPH to push the fan with all the rust in there....

i agree it's probably the fan speed resistor.
i had the same thing happen in a feroza i used to have.
the first couple of resitors had blow so that it only worked full bull or not at all.

not exactly sure but it will generaly be near
the fan itself and have a harness plugged into
it. maybe pull the glovebox out and behind there.
hope it helps. :)
