2.4 diesel wont start

Post by gutlux »

i recently pulled the inlet manifold off my 84 2.4 diesel hilux, this involved undoing the injectors, and i also drained the radiator. it sat for two weeks while i was away, now i have put it back together.

it used to start first pop each time, but now it wont start at all.

it has a brand new battery.

when i turn it over it seems to struggle and wont fire at all.

any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

Glow plugs wire connected doesn't it go onto inlet manifold.

Glow plugs would be first point of call as suggested.

Already bled the system so thats fine.

Have you got the fuel pipes from injectors to injector pump in right order? This could be hard to mess up anyway as th epipes are bent to the correct shape to really only fit in one place, but check it anyway I guess.

that is right .fuel will only come out of injector points on pump when engine is cranking. if there is no air bubbles coming out of return line then connect injector lines &crank motor over untill it fires ,sometimes u can flatten battery if injector pump is a little sad.double check glow plug wiring with a test light if everything is ok it should run .the stop solenoid wire is on the end of the fuel pump you should feel a faint click with your fingers when it is switched on by an assistant.unless u have done something else ? it should go
