heat button??
heat button??
I have a 99 GU Patrol, It has a heat button just to the right of the steering wheel, i know its used to heat up the engine on cold starts. However, i was more interested on how it actually does this, does it just increase the revs, or is there a type of heater...etc...
any links or diagrams would be good, or just a good explanation.
thanks

I assume this is a diesel? In that case, I think your heat button heats the glow plugs. That is, it sends battery power straight to the glow plugs which heat when current passes through them (like little electric heaters). This helps spark the first few explosions before the engine's heat and compression takes up the task itself.

Yeah it is a diesel, i dont think it does heat the glow plugs, as i have tried to turn it on before starting the engine and it doesnt seem to do anything.
Like Ozy1 said, it bumps the revs up to about 1k. Just wanted to know if it did anything besides that, but it appears that it is a mistery to all of us
