Winch Solenoid cabling

How much diference will it make iif the solenoid is mounted in the cab and the:
A
F1
F2
leads are run from there.
I realise the runs will be far longer than the solenoid on the winch motor
but will there be a loss of power?
cable is 35mm2
as it is being a pain to locate the solenoid pack under the bonnet.
Any suggestions?

How much longer are you talking.. 1m or 30cm?
Im no electrical engineer but there will be a power drop, just depends on how far the cable run is.

By using a bigger cable will minimise this.

yeah a bigger cable may help but use high quality uv resistent, and low internal restiant cable, have u got a good 4by shop, or low voltage nearu? they are the best for this

The best stuff would have to be welding cable... but its $$$ x 10

Thanks all
I have compromised and fitted the solenoids behind the headlight
the battery cable is shorter and the others slightly longer
I am using 35mm2 welding cable
which suprisingly isn't that expensive over here
I paid £15 $35Aus for 10m
I'll take some pics later

about to do this myself. have welding flex for this, man is it super flexible too. if you put solenoids anywhere along original line from winch to battery, then you don't lose anything. sep is use bigger cable. so doesn't matter is battery cable shorter than other 3 or other way around.

my problem too is where to mount the solenoid box in a 73 series (same as 70, 74, 75 etc). was thinking about right behind grill, thought that winch would block most airflow to this area of radiator already?


any comments? or suggestions from others who have mounted solenoids in engine bay
