Carburettors

Post by troyster »

Does anybody know if the carburettor installed on an Australian delivered 1990 sierra 1.3L is the same as that used on the American delivered vehicles.

I will preface this by saying I AM OFFICIALLY NOT SURE, but I am aware that US market carby sierras have HEAPS more emission control gizmology than australian cars, and in 1991, sierras went EFI in the states.

1988 sierras seem to be substantially differently wired than 1988 australian sierras.

later sierras (after 91) have an "emmision control box" under the cowl behind the glovebox, but I am still willing to bet it was more complex in the US.

Also, It depends what state in the US too. California has differnt emmisions regs than the rest of the US, (although some other states get california cars) the emmisions controls on california cars are nearly always different. (sometimes lower power too.) and far more stringent.

sorry this is not really an answer, but there are some US workshop manuals downloadable , and these should tell you a bit more if you have a 1990 sierra to look at at the same time.
