The NGK website recommends a colder plug and .1mm less gap for gas.

eg. my 1979 Range Rover requires a BP5ES plug, but for gas I use a BP6ES.

A good spark is essential, so leads and coil must be in good condition.

I ended up using iridium plugs....they arent cheap ($20ea), but they are supposed to last for 150,000km....

They also gave me a extra 50km / tank of gas ...idle is much smoother...and even a little extra power :)
