Just wondering whether the 1998 auto Sportage had an intergrated transfer case or totally seperate transfer case.
And was the 2.0lt efi some type of mazda engine??
Does anyone have the length of motor and auto transfer (fan to end of transmition) available to them or know where I could this measurement from?

All in one case.
Two projects happening in the US, a dual case adapter (similar to rockblock), and lower gearing (~2.7-3:1). Present low ratio is 1.98:1.
Engine is a licence built Mazda FE 3 motor.
I'll measure the beast tomorrow (manual is same length as auto - same driveshafts etc...)

All measurements made from the transmission/engine bellhousing join:
Engine total length (including fan): 65 cm forward
To engine mounts: 25 cm
Approximate width engine (engine block mounting points): 22 cm **
Transmission/Tcase length (to rear output flange): 100 cm back
Tcase support X-member: 65 cm back
Transmission width: 17 cm
Front driveshaft flange: 80 cm back **
Tcase front driveshaft offset: 25 cm wide, right hand side
There are 4 mounting support "wings" on the transmission about 50 and 65 cm back if needed (ON MANUAL)**
** = not absolutely accurate
****FAN TO REAR DRIVESHAFT FLANGE LENGTH: 165 CM****
The auto would not vary much from these dimensions (<1-2 CM). All AU delivered vehicles were DOHC and mechanically identical.
