Wiring prob

Post by Liam »

Anyone know which of the senders on the gearbox is the one that controls the reverse lights ? Currently I'm getting the reversing lights coming on when in 4th gear. I think there's 3 or 4 senders. Guessing I 've got to swap the polarity on one. ( sierra 5 speed)

I think they also changed between the WT and NT gearboxes as well.

I believe it is the rearmost switch but not sure which one on the firewall.

cheers

thanks for that. None of mine are on the firewall only more, so just cutting and switching at the plug is an attractive option.

I had a giggle over this  Now all you have to do is hook up your interior light to your hazards and brake light switch to your horn!!! :D

For the newbs, the easiest way to find this out would be to put the transmission in reverse and test for continuity on each of the switches with a multimeter.

theres 4 senders on this box. Turns out it's the one on the centre, top at the front of the box. Reversing the polarity didnt help ( must switch earth) so it's just unplugged for the moment.

The reverse light switch is on the passengers side of the car on a 45degree angle closest to the eng.
It's plug is one of the smaller 3 with a female end on a wide track & a male end on a 1 litre, sorry dont have a 1.3 narow track here today.
It plugs into a red & a yellow wires on the body harness (all models)

This problem normally occurs when gearbox is repaired & the switches are mixed up.(easy to do if you don't take notice of where they go when removing them . :?

the world's ugliest mudflaps are only temporary- a nessesary evil for engineer/rta/blue slip/mr plod. About to replaced with a very different solution.
I can get more d44's but they'll be about 2 grand a pair ( and come with a free international scout attached)

rear d60's can be had reasonably cheap- try truck wreckers, especially country ones) Old inter's and similar (think fruit truck)had them in the back, usually with dualies. Mate sourced a d70 that way for $150 and $100 to pull it out.
