TB42 Idle
TB42 Idle
Been reading the post in the bible about fast idle issues.....
Mine appears to not have this problem, though it idles about 1100 RPM and only goes as low as about 1000.
Is this too high? when i pull the clutch out to take off without throttle, the front end lifts up a touch.
88 swb GQ on duel fuel, runs mostly gas.
How do i lower the idle?
What is normal TB42 on gas idle sposed to be??

the derro who owned it before u prolly screwed up the idle cause he couldn't get it to idle right with out stalling hahaha
screw idle back down and get it tuned by some one who knows how

Ok,
ive wound it down but while i was winding it down it stayed up...
until i punched the throttle and it went down to 300
too far, so bumped it up to about 650 like it says in the manuel....
it ends up idling at 750 in petrol and 650 on gas....
BUT, when i first start the rig and shes cooled off it idles at about 1100........ It doesnt slowly drop at all either.....
but after a certain amount of time if i punch the throttle it goes back down to 650 ish...
is this the auto choke? or fasst idle problem?

I had two petrols that did the same thing all you need to do is lean your choke off a bit so you will need to spin the choke housing clockwise but how much depends on the person driving the vehicle. so if you want to try this just loosen the three screws on the housing and spin it clockwise a little to start with and see where its ideling.

started her again this morning.... being warm this morning it started ( i punch the throttle to start it ) and it went to 800 rpm, but then i drove around the corner and it went back up to 1100....
weird.... the butterflys etc arent sticking ( i checked ) so fast idling......
how to fix?
not quite sure wat u mean by adjusting the choke flexy trol.... where are these screws located?

will have a squiz... so if im looking in the engine bay from the front of the vehicle, its on the right hand side next to the motor?
or is it down near the accelerator cable... as thats the only cable i can see....
will have another look.

Had 3 GQ duel fuellers, all had the same problem.
The white plastic auto choke cam causes this problem(as mentioned above).i could never fix this item properly.
My solution was to totally remove the plastic cam and wire the choke butterfly fully opened.
running on mainly gas this is not a problem, only cold starts on petrol takes a while to warm up to idel.

it does appear to be getting stuck, at least when i play with it in the engine bay, though even with luve it doesnt really help it.....
