Noticed a disturbing thing with my Zook this morning.

When I need to stop and get out of the vehicle on a steep slope, I have been in the habit (also taught in 4WD clubs) of putting the vehicle in gear and turning off the ignition, effectively stalling the vehicle. This acts as a fail-safe to the handbrake.

This morning, not even offroad but shuffling vehicles on my mum's driveway, I did as i usually would and the Zook kept rolling. Slowly, but definitely wasn't going to hold.

I thought that this could not happen. Afterall an empty soft-top Sierra has buggerall weight in it. I have done the same with a fully loaded 78 series cruiser with no handbrake and it held.

Is this normal? Can anyone explain why? Does this indicate damage somewhere in the drivetrain?

I would have hated to have encountered this out on a serious track!!

bear in mind the landcruser has a really highcompression deisel motor with a compression ratio of aprox 26:1 where as the Zuke only has a compression ratio of 8.5:1 so the motor can be moved much easier
