ok rang up a couple of places up that repair and balance these.
1 place said that the tube for a gu isnt available in australia and would be too hard to do..
another said he could do it for $350 bucks
and another i need an interpreter to understand what hes on about..

question is has anyone had 1 retubed or know how much could i expect to pay for it...thanks in advance ....steve

see if a GQ one will fit.
A mate got his modified and used chrome moly, hasn't had it on road yet though.

btw, the 2.8td GU ones have different flanges, not sure about GQ ones.

i asked nissan how many part numbers there were for the rear tail shaft on the GU.
the answer was 9 its also different from the auto and manual.

get the $350 dude to show you the material he is going to use, if it looks good and strong, try and get him to do it for less $ ;)

i went and got another shaft from the wreckers ,cause i dont want to pay 350 bucks for the little bit of damage i got to the shaft..
ill drive to the jambo on the good shaft and ill use the slightly damaged one in the comp .(and then maybe ill pay 350 for it to b repaired after its really f@#@#d)

I have a brand new GU shaft sitting in the shed that you can have for a couple hundred if you want. It came out of a auto "TI" wagon with 4.5 petrol engine. I'm also selling the locker diff if your interested.

I know its not a GU, but I just got my rear shaft done. Good job and it was cheap.

Can't thiink of their name atm, will let you know tonight :D

the only shafts that fit mine are from 3.0td manuels.....asked nissan there are 9 different part numbers on the gu shafts

just weld your old one up with some thick tube and keep it for comps only.
