problem with auto trans
just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the auto trans on a 95 DOHC 3.5lt GLS model when under load with the caravan the trasmission isnt kicking down when its suppose to .Does anyone know what this could be as it was serviced 10,000klms ago and fluid is always topped.Or is there a link where this has been talked about before ,any help would be great thanks.
These auto's are usually pretty good the V4AW series as used in all Gen 2 Paj's from NH to when it was changed to a different auto for the NL.
The V4AW3 as used in the 3.5 V6 DOHC rarely gives trouble as long as it is looked after which obviously you are doing.
It could be as simple as adjusting the kickdown cable so it is a tad more sensitive it maybe just on the low side of it's adjustment for kickdown especially when under load. Another thing to check is the throttle cable adjustment, if this is out of range kickdown can be slower.
Both of these adjustments are very easy to do and the Gregory's manual (no 510) shows it well.
