3.8 hilux transfer case?

Post by Arron nz »

Hey I might be in the wrong forum here but, does any one know what transfer case bolts straight on to the back of a t700 auto box? apparently they are the same layout (front drive shaft on the right) as a hilux one. I dont know what the are out of or what the are called. I beleave they are out of a chev blazer? are the an NP transfercase? does any one know what ratio the low range is?

Next bit. I know this would never happen but lets just say that a hilux did not make it to the top of a hill. how do you back down in a controlled maner with a t700 auto box. can you fit a torque converter lock up so that you have engine braking or does a lock up not work quite like that (i have no idea how the work), do you fit a drive shaft hand brake and use it carefully (is it m&m that makes them, are they a good kit) or do you just have to fit lower gears. (at the mo I have 33's 4.875 diffs and a stanard commodore t700 box with a hilux tcase) any suggestions/experience would be great.
Cheers.
Arron.
