I wasn't aware you could get decent branded winches this cheap (AU$750 retail), albeit a bit smaller than those I've seen priced before.
But as the "You get what you pay for" saying goes, I was curious as to what the shortcomings of this (or similar) product were? "Suitable for Lightweight 4x4's and Softroaders, Not intended for heavy recovery work" as the site says, so what exactly does that mean? How do they like water?
Any of you out there own one or have any experiences with em? If so I'd like to hear about it
The Brawn 5000 is tidy unit. We have tested it a number of times on 4wd TV and it seemed to work well with the porta winch set up pulling an 80 series cruiser. It did give out though when the grade became quite steep but it really isn't designed to pull an 80. I have also seen them pull 7,000lbs on the test bench.
Friends who run them are also quite happy with them.
