Just a quick question regarding fitting 35's on my 60. Already have 2 1/2 in the suspension and will be fitting body lift this week, but need to know if I can have the tyres fitted pre body lift (time constraints) if I am just driving around town for the week ie. no offroad, no flexing...

They wont rub at all you will be fine, I did the exact same thing drove a week before i put the body lift in on the weekend,
not only that it was in the week stumpy bought his 4-runner so a quick play at the top of Porters was also done with the only scrubbing happening when all the weight was on the front going down steps and it wasnt bad

Thanks for the replies, as it happened the tyres won't be in untill next week so I just bit the bullet and did the body lift. So now my situation is reversed and the car looks like a giant roller skate. Was a massive hassle in the end, as I was sold the wrong size bolts from a "reputable" 4wd place in Sydney and ended up running all over the place trying to get a hold of the correct size in high tensile steel (word of advice, don't always jump at the lowest price!). Anyway nearly finished now, I just have to remount the radiator and check out the steering (any suggestions??? I haven't touched the steering yet, don't really know where to start, do I need to do anything at all???) By the way they are MTR's and I'm keen as!!! Might post a few pics when it's all finished if anyones interested.

mate i got 35's muddies on mine and it goes sweet and steer's good and the sway bar's r gone and sweet as got 8 inch shackels and 2" body lift

I've got a set of 35x13.5 Mudzillas on the way soon for my 60, it already has a 2" suspension lift and i will be doing a 2" body lift too. Is there anything else to look out for apart from dropping the radiator, reshaping the transfer case lever and stuff like loosening the steering column shaft etc?? I want the gearshifter back at the original height, i should be able to just lengthen by welding in a section of rod to make up the length? I was considering taking the swaybars off too, but how much is it gonna stuff up the on-road handling?

I made some inquiries today in relation to a set of 285/75/16 wranglers. I'am thinking of fitting them to a set of 16x8 80 series GXL rims, to put on my 60 series. Measured diameter with a tape measure and they are approx. 32"
Anyone have any idea how the 80 series rims will go on a 60 series, (with off sets) and how about fouling on the body/suspension?
I would go and put a tire on a rim and check it myself but the garage is full of the daughters stuff whilst she is back at home, and the rims are at the back of the shed.....
Also, any idea on where I would be able to get speed drive gears corrected or is it out with the speedo and get it re calibrated?

Im getting new wheels and tyres in around 2 weeks time, but i wanna go 35's so badly but am worried about legal and insurance issues, so i thinking only 33's, how and where could i get 35's approved???

i run 37" MTRs on my 60, (2" body and sprung over) they only scrub against the back of the arch, when u bump into ledges, but i think a shackle reversal will fix this.
in regards to tyres/rims, im not sure as to how the 80 rims will go on a 60, but i do know that you cant run a rim wider then 10" on road..
