GQ recall notice

Post by gqswb »

Found this info on the Yahoo Patrol forum. One of them is the front brake lines spliting which happened to me a few months ago. I'm glad these things have a good handbrake caus I was heading strait into the side of a little baby Magna.

yeah..... but still worth going outside and giving your front brake lines etc.. a once over?? Most people probaly do that when they are servicing there rides anyway. right? ;) Don't know what you would see but... How do you know when your lines are faulty? Do they expand under load?

I cracked my front panhard rod mount, thanks to Rohan he welded it up and gave me the reinforced mount. It is worth buying the beefed up unit if you are doing serious offroad

Talking about brakelines here....

Worth checking regularly on any car. They're supposed to be replaced every 2 years from memory. reality says theyre replaced when r00ted which isnt that good an idea in my view....

They are quite vulnerable down there. I supose it would be a good idea to carry brake fluid with you, And some kind of a clamp. Those little buggers could get snaged on branches etc... and tear. Fk using the hand brake all the way home from the bush.

I always carry a brakeline clamp offroad... they're good tools to have. One blown line = no brake pressure and no brakes about 2 pumps later.

Spare brake fluid would be good... but you take everything you need your whole garage and it wont all fit :(

By law they have to. Only when a recall has been closed they can refuse the repair as the recall is considered complete. If a campaign has been rendered inactive all that means they cannot find all the vehicles. It can be only closed at 100 percent recall rate.

Check your recalls here:http://dynamic.dotars.gov.au/recalls/index.asp
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.
Well they are all following you...

My front lines split soon after I had the 35s fitted. (about a year ago) Must have been the extra braking pressure required that made the weaker lines fail.

This happened whilst driving down the "Big Dipper" in the lower Watagans, a nasty steep powerline track where "Slowhilux" Phill rolled his 80. Wasn't a lot of fun having to drive the remaining 200m down the track only using engine braking and the handbrake to get me down. Then drove out of the track and the 20ks back home via the old Pacific Highway with no brakes... yeah a lot of fun

I replaced both brakelines at my own expense before I heard about the recall. Contacted Nissan in Dandenong and they refunded the invoiced price of the lines. They checked my VIN and the recall had never been make so they registered registered my claim and all was good!

I paid 140 bucks for new lines, should realy try and find the invoice and call Nissan. I have braided lines on my comodoor they cost about 200 and there about twice as long as the GQ ones. Any good brake shop should be able to make them/get them.

Why? 140 bucks is 140 bucks. DirtPigs said he got his money back out of them. Got nothing to loose.

Ludachris can supply braided for around the $90.00 mark plus freight or rubber for cheaper.
Go the braid cause you get a better brake with the lines not expanding under load
