Chev in a Bundera?
Im thinking about putting a chev 307 in my Bundy but scared im going to blow diff and gearbox as its all hilux running gear. Anyone got any ideas or experiance with chevs in Hilux's?

In my opion it would be fine with an auto. But you will still need to be carefull how you push on the load pedal. The biggest thing to look at is the room for radiator, if there isn`t much room then you will have heating problems.
I want a V8 in my lux but from people I have spoken to they are easy to keep cool for normal 4x4ing but when you start doing slow work they heat up lots. I might end up just going a V6 as they leave you with more room

A mate of mine runs a 308 with a fairly decent cam and a V8 commodore radiator it doesnt get hot in normal driving/4wding but it does get hot quick if you are flogging it trying to get it somewhere it doesnt want to go. He runs a Turbo350 behind it but used to run stock 5spds It was manual for 2 years and only broke the original 5spd about 6 months after he fitted the engine.I dont think they are different internaly but i used the front half of a Bundera box to make him a new box and it is still fine.He runs 4.3 gears and has had no failures at all.
But then again i know if i was driving it then it would have damaged a lot more gear.I guess its how you drive them.
I am about to fit a V6 chev in mine and later next year i will prob go 3.5 rover V8 as they are real light and have heaps of torque down low.Only reason i am fitting the chev now is that i already have it.

Is a stock 307 Chev worth $600 with heads, ram head exhausts and intake manifold and nothing else????
I was going to run it straight gas, is this reliable in the bush as i heard it can b a pain when your air filter gets full of dust??? and runs hotter..
Thanx for the info so far

depending how much money u have u can fit either 5sp boxs out of 75ser cruiser 1hz or 1fz .if u need more room fit 75 ser panels out front as they are longer and use 75ser radiator with an engine fan mostly pretty easy to fit
