What Options for Chassis Repair/Replacement

What Options for Chassis Repair/Replacement
I have a little problem with my chassis. It appears to have been rusting away on the inside of the box section. I came across this when i noticed that the roza was leaning a little to the left. Upon further investigation i found that the front bracket of the left hand side rear leaf spring had broken away from the chassis member and collapsed up into it a little.
Check out the photo of after i jacked it up.
So the question is whats the best way to go to remedy this problem.
I have considerd doin a patchup job and sellin it but i am not willing to sell the roza or give someona a dodgy car.
So would it be better in the longrun to replace the chassis or fix it?
Can u weld chassis legally in QLD. I know a lot of good boilermakers.
How much would a chassis be from a wrecker and would it be hard to find a straight one with minimal rust?
Or should i just buy a compete car that has been rolled?
Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Mate, that's bad news, I've got a 93 Widetrack, and underneath mine looks like new. Maybe yours got driven in salt water or lived near a beach early in its life. As has been said earlier, that is a rare site on a roza.

wow clint.. thats horrible man. i honestly think you should get it patched up, then get rid of it asap!!!! buy another one. reason i say this is because if THAT can happen from rust, then you really dont have a clue where else it could happen. that kind of perch being rusted out is a very rare thing because that sucker's spose to be solid...

Thanks for the replys fellas. I have had the roza since new and it has had a bit of beach work and heaps of mud . I always avoid the saltwater when i can and give it a good hose out when i get home.
Maybe i am just unlucky
I have to do a little more resarch and have a closer look at the chassis b4 i make any final decision.
I have another car to get me around so i am not in any hurry.

hey clint.... why dont you take it to a chassis specialist and have him take a poke around if you can.... look for more signs of rust... if its just that one area... you should be able to get it patched back up without too much drama, but if the chassis is pretty rusted.. sell it asap.... who knows, you might be lucky enough to have just that one specific area rusted out.

Yeah, someone was telling me that Ferozas have the lower half galvanised (what I've been told), I'm assuming that's the body, so as long as the rest of the chassis is ok, hopefully you won't have any dramas with the rest of the car, but if u do get it repaired, keep a good close eye on the chassis to make sure this doesn't happen again.
U should consider yourself lucky it didn't let go on the freeway at 110km/h!!!!
Would have been interesting trying to get out of that situation unharmed....
If u keep a close eye on the WHOLE chassis and it does start to rust again, at least you can get onto it b4 it gets as nasty as it has now.
Good luck with it anyway..

Well i have decided to remove the body anyway, wether i repair or replace chassis. Will give everything a good cleanup and lube before i put it all back together again, to avoid this problem in the future.
At the moment the body is 8" off the chassis. Can't safely go any higher until i make up some special stands to support the body.
Is there anything i should do to the engine/gearbox etc. while everything is easily accessable, ie without the body on?
