Gidday All

As you are aware and JohnJohn has mentioned, The 2003 Tuff Truck Challenge is back on this year. Our website is up and running [www.tufftruck.com.au] . We are still posting info for the competitors so stay tuned for more info. Otherwise if you have any questions let us know here or on our contact details and we will try to help you out best we can.

I read through some of the comments on this forum regarding this years event. Some valid, some not so valid.......

con, it's nice to see that you guys have changed the entry format. hopefully it will work out more fairly than the previous system. but from the limited information on the site, am i right to assume that there won't be an unregistered outlaw class? so therefore all entries must have engineering and rego?

As much as we would luv to see outlaw class, insurance restrictions are making it very difficult to run events like this as it is.

At this stage you will need a current drivers license and registration of your vehicle in your current state. (AND THAT IS ALL at this stage). The responsibility of everything else falls into the hands of the owner/driver of the vehicle.

We will probably do a general inspection of vehicles for recovery and general safety but that is just for our piece of mind.

We are trying our damned-est to try and get some more technical and confirmed info to all of you. Be patient and we will let you know as soon as we can.

Does mean that modifications dont need to be engineered (as in mod plates or engineers certificates)???

OR

Does it mean that vehicles need to be legally registered?


Either way Im keen to enter and looking at the rigs that are currently getting around I think that its going to be an awesome comp.

With regards to Rego, how does it work out with states like QLD having strict rules and places like NSW.... well I have seen what they can get registered. Is it just a case of bad luck ?

Sorry I have been away at the 4wd Jamboree and couldn't answer any sooner. It was a great weekend.

I will try to answer your questions as soon as I can. We are currently still discussing details with the insurance company and trying to get decisions out of em.

You'd think we were trying to move mountains!!

Thats phlucked! Im pretty disappointed...once again we can thank the ambulance chasing lawyers and insurance companies for making it impossible to hold a public event without the threat of some p|ssed w@nker hurting themself and suing..... :( :(

I was reading the 4wd monthly forum and liked the idea about holding it up here!

Yes Manar is a long way to go but you can run anything up there without any worrys of insurance and also the ROCK is 1000 times better than anything they would have had at TTC!

Hold it up there :roll: Would you lot drive all the way to Melbourne if they were to hold it down there? Thats about a 20hr drive from Surfers :shock: would be even longer if towing ya rig, Just ask Cheezy he spends about 30hrs driving to go to LCMP :shock:

Yes i would tow my rig 20 or 30 hours!

It would only be once or twice a year!

I was Planning on going to TTC and then the last round of XRCC thats still 15 hours or so!

Now it looks as though it will be just for XRCC!

I am only in this for FUN!

I couldn't care less about the distance or the prizes, i just want to wheel with different people on different terrain!

Like Ruff said the Yanks travel that distance all the time some do it twice a month and some guys travel 3 or 4 DAYS just to turn up and come last, but they were there and they competed!

I hope you and CHEEZY find some MAD aresed rock down that way and organize a serious ROCK event, with plenty of notice i will be there for sure! (Plenty of notice, as i need to arrange time of and save up the $$$$)

One thing TTC commitee could look at if they did hold it up here is this:

Work out whos coming from where!

The guys that are the closest still pay $600.00 entry, the guys from sydney pay $300.00 and the guys that have the furtherest to travel pay $100.00 or even nothing! (those amounts are rough, they could even be more for the closest and so on)

I am sure this would compensate slightly for travel cost etc etc!

Now i am sure the TTC wouldn't mind as it means the event will still get run and fair enough not as many spectators would come but at least there would be something!!!!

i would drive to melbourne if thats what it took, i dont think of the time or the money, its the fun and the terrain, the scenery, the people, hell if you're too scared of a little drive to Queensland, how you gunna show the crowd what they want :finger:

Okay guys you have heard right.

It's bloody dissapointing (and that is an understatement).

The good news is that it has been re-scheduled for 15th-17th May 2004.(or is that bad news)

Unfortunately our insurance terms depict what our rules may or may not be, so when we have insurance, we will also have rules and reg's that are confirmed on what you can and can't do as far as building your vehicle for the TTC. At the moment we can not publish anything due to the fact that we're getting "pinballed". We will however resolve this matter via 'baseball bat conferencing' (just joking). It does not leave enough time for many other guys that are looking at building trucks.

There are a few other reasons as well that probably add to the fact that we may be pushing the proverbial uphill but thems the breaks as they say.

Anyway guys, we do apologise for any inconvenience and hope to have it all sorted soon.

Thats good news its still gunna run, even if it is next year. :shock:
As for traveling to comps, I do and always will drive anywhere for a good wheel. :D
Have any of you added up the cost of of driving to the other end of the country for a wheel :?:
1/ Fuel in the tow vehicle $1000
2/ Trailer rent 6 days $300
3/ 5 days off work $ enter total here.
4/ Extra spares ( you are a long way from home)
5/ Ware and tare on tow vehicle (tyres, tune, oil ect)
Also when you get to the event you are stuffed for a day, also the day you get back to work you may as well not be there (also stuffed).

TOTAL cost would be around $2500 to $3000 give or take a few bucks.
So there is a Mog diff, 2/ 2.5 tonne Rockwells, A rebuild of a 350 chev, A new set of Swampers :?:

















































But who gives a fark, you could be dead tomorrow. :D
