When you're locked, it only gets you further into the mud, making recovery harder.
Whole lot more fun though

yeah i recon they do , to an extent, i have been able to climb hills i previously haven't just keep revs up and over i would go instead of sinking near the 2/3 mark, even with a run up . only thing is don't dump it or you will dig down .
but i have done an area in 2wd (rear locker) where i normaly would of looked for 4wd with out lockers. so i think they well worth it.

yeah, no front locker, can't afford or risk breaking CV's or that darn aluminium diff housing i got up front!
i was mucking around in 2 wheel drive, cos i had the weber on, and it was all full sick until i stopped moving, and it was all too late.
i went out today for some rock and hill climbs, weber only started to starve of fuel when i was doing some big ass donuts. but that was about it.
locker works a treat on the hills and the rocks, i need to think twice about driving up rocks to take flex shots (poser), or i might actually need that roll cage.
on anything other than mud, lockers are under-estimated! even in the sloppy stuff, just make sure your in 4wd first, then that locker will work just as good. today is day 2, so i'm still having fun and experimenting.
its all good, reason why i get bogged so often, is
1. cos its fun
2. i'm being an idiot, and
3. its 5 minutes from the nearest house. (to get help)

oh yeah, i only got 13 inches of clearance from bottom of chassis rail to level ground. and bit less on bottom of rear diff.
13" is the best i could do... for the time being.
bigger tyres would be awesome, but then you need to fork out for them, and then you need to cope with no power to turn them, and then you need to pay up for boken stuff......
i'll take my chances as a sled.
