Does anyone have experience in fitting a Subaru air/water intercooler to a GQ turbo'd TD42 ???

It's to small, also the inlet and outlet are on the small side so if you were going to use it a lot of pipe work would be needed.

if its the one they mention for the TD42T, its only for GUs I called about it.

When Tom (GQ) see's this thread he will chime in and put a photo up also. The inlet and outlet are not on the same side. Wait for Tom's photo.

Linc's right... I have one sittin here.. and as soon as my GQ's put back together the intercooler goes straight on.
Benefits - no loss of boost due water to air system and its pretty much the best design for offroad use i believe.
WHY? - air to air intercooler needs the vehicle moving to stay cool. Above engine is even worse.. as when you're offroading.... well u get the hint..
This one.. is 400mm long and and it will be mounted on the passenger firewall and the vacuum tanks relocated. Heaps of room in there.
The intercooler - has an inlet pipe for the turbo which is UNDER the intercooler itself and the diameter pipe for it is simliar size to the turbo outlet pipe and its just a matter of routin the turbo pipe under the intercoole (turbo pipe is directed upwards to go over the rocker cover.. so can simply get a 90 deg bend and direct it to the intercooler.. piss easy)
THe exit pipe from the intercooler is nearly the same sizeas the inlet manifold intake.. so just matter of gettin a long piece of alloy and have it cut up and silicon hoses to join up the lot.
The intercooler runs its own radiator system.. smallish radiator about 20x20x10 and run with a mercedes water pump (subaru water pumps work 50 percent of the time).
My boss has an intercooler on his range rover isuzu engine 4.2 (i think) and has good results out of it.. no reason why it cannot happen with a TD42
In the next few weeks.. (when the GQ is put back together) i'll get my car dynoed for research's sake and stick the intercooler on it.. and redo it.. to see how it goes.
It is a GU factory turbo with 3 inch pipe and no fuel mods yet.

The Denco unit is $1815 including GST... a bit pricey.
I had a chat to PWR the other day. Their 290Hp flow water to air core with radiator and pump comes to just over $1000. Of course you would need to fabricate the flanges at both ends.

Subaru water-air intercoolers flow enough air for 150kW+ in a petrol and cost $650 or less with all the bits and pieces. For example: http://www.adelaidejap.com.au/accessories.htm
Another option is to get any second hand air-air core and box it in yourself. Need to be able to weld Al to do this of course.
