What gearbox?

Post by 6.2troopy »

hi, simple question, what gearbox do i fit to my 6.2chev in a 75series. the weekends trip has left my low range stripped, and some gears in 2wd. what would be the best option to replace them with.

An 80 series box?? Other than that Marks do the Dyna boxes for luxes with 5/1 first, itd b good for crawling only with a 6.2 infront of it.
The h151 is the petrol or turbo box, and 4.02/1 is first gear, as opposed to the h150 from a 1hz that has 4.5/1 first...with all that torque,,,,,and lack of redlines over 3, you need the lower gears...

ouch, might have to look at the chev gearbox that was origionally behind it, or a big auto. BUt then of course your diffs are the next bits on the firing line.

welcome aboard

diff are up to it. will a 60 series box be stronger than the original 75? many people reckon this would be pretty much straight fix. the only problem witha big turbo auto is downhill descents, or will this work fine?

If you only have standard gears it will prob get away a bit locked in first.

Don't know too much about the 60 series box in that regard.

Dyna would def be up to it though

Hi
Have a yack to wholesale transmissions in Melbourne...Rodney has problems with them overheating out of lockup with the v8 infront.
What model 75 do you have?? steel grill or plastic??
A turbo 400 will work behind it well....you can probably get an 80 series transfer behind it to give you better low range gears.
