Water leaks due to rain 80series

Post by Toy80Diesel »

Hi I'm wondering if anyones had the same leak inside the car due to rain.
80 Series GXL... Its been raining here in melb all night.
Wet carpet in the front passenger footwell, looks like its from the kick panel. Have previously tried to seal the windscreen on that side with the black selastic stuff for windscreens, because i thought thats where it was from.
Did this about 2 months ago after we had the last decent downpour.
Hasn't fixed it, and i'm thinking it could be some hole/grommet of some kind behind the front gaurd or next to the door hinge.
I believe the one that holds the wiring for the door is not at fault as its in its right spot.
Any Idea's anyone?

There are quite a few points it can enter from. When you have the carpet up, remove the bung in the middle of the floor...if its still full of water...start looking for the weep holes to unblock...this frame is connected to the sills...

My missus does too there is a grommet that seals the radio arial co-axe and if its been replaced the grommet is impossible to to get back in with out pulling off the front guard. also check the plenum drains arn't blocked with leaves mud etc. To access this area remove the wipers and the scuttle panel (vented panel in front of the screen) and give it a good clean.
