Does anyone here run a H/D dyna gearbox from Marks?

Post by ausyota »

Just wondering if anyone runs one of these.

My box is starting to make some nasty noises in 5th and now 3rd.
With my future intercooled turbo plans(dreams) this H/D box looks like the go. But its big dollars!!!
For the same price I could probably get 4 gearbox rebuilds!

I wish someone would build a bolt in 6 speed. How cool would that be? You could have a crawler first gear and a normal ratio 5 speed.

I don't run one but if i had the money i would certainly be getting one!

My uncle had a 84 hilux dual cab with a commodore V6 in it, he used it for traveling up north and around Oz.

He destroyed 2 stock gear boxes on his way up to darwin (most of it was off-road) so he brought a Dyna H/D box of Marks and it has been in there ever since!

He said he wouldn't use anything else especially for outback touring as the last thing you want to happen out in the middle of no where is for your g-box to blow up!

I have ended up going the cheap way and Im putting new bearings in my current 5 speed box.
When this box gives up Ill go for the dyna one.

I dont know about Marks dyna boxes but a mate of mine put a dyna box behind his 6.2 ltr chev diesel 40 series and kept blowing them
He has now had a standard 5 speed in the truck for 4 years with no trouble
