what mechanic are good in the Canberra area
Moving to queanbeyan and need to get my new 4l motor fitted no time to do myself and want to go away next school holidays, so running out of time, are there any good/ recommended mechanic in the Canberra area
5" lift front locked looking for bigger tyres
Ray @ Canberra Motor Works.
Conservative in what he will tackle (ie must be 100% legal, lift heights, rim offsets, emissions stuff etc), but knowledagble, and helpful. Knows how to charge, but is on par with most workshops. Has done lots with Rover strokers in the past (lots of 5l builds and he used to race them), and knows plenty about aftermarket ecu setup. Has a pretty good inventory of S/H parts on hand and can usually get anything you need in a day.
Just my opinion, have only used him a couple of times when I was in a bind for a part or short on time. But the only other options for people who know Rover in Canberra are a mob in Fyshwick (who I wont name and wont recommend cause I once worked for them, spare parts dept might be helpful if you are stuck for a part), or the Rover dealership, nuf said.
Cheers

Chris Nash sold Nash Off Road a while ago.
Canberra Motorworks is a Rangie/Landy place but I would enquire to KAOS 4x4 - These guys do engine swaps on anything - and they get them engineered. They built the SAS Vitara at the Nissan Trials with 35' Centipedes, and also had a CJ7 with 400 Chev at the Nissan.
