Surf Recovery Points
Hi guys, im new here. I just wanted to ask about how i can get safe recovery points onto a surf? My dads surf is fairly standard and only has the original lashing down eyes on it, which are used for shiping and not strong enough. He has asked ARB in WA and they have said that the only way around it is to get a bull bar for the front and to fit a tow ball to the rear. Is this right? Suerly there must be someone making some sort of recovery points for the surf? Any suggestions?
any recovery hook off the shelf (aftermarket) will fit as you mount it under the front chassis and you just need to buy a couple of grade 8.8 or better bolts to suit the holes in the chassis. crawl under the front and you'll see some threaded holes near the front of the rails on the bottem.
As for the rear I always use the loops on the rear xof the chassis and haven't had a prob as I've been told this is the rear recovery point.
As for ARB there prob trying to get a sale instead of being helpfull as I've found that lately myself.

The threads under the front chassis rails are 12mmx1.25 pitch.
The chassis is really a little thin and a big pull distorts the rail as the captive nuts try to come through.
We bolt through a piece of 50x5mm which we drill to pick up the 3rd hole further back as well. I usually weld this to the chassis rail but this may give you problems over the pits.
The rear chassis is an open C section and rather weak, it opens, disorts,
cracks with big loads.A good tow bar would spread the load accross a greater area and both rails.
