side exit exhaust on a soft-top

I have a Rocsta soft top. Today, I turned the exhaust system into something that now resembles a peice of curled up spaghetti. I reversed down a bit of a rut and pushed the exhaust halfway back under the car.

Anyways, i will get a new section bent up and installed sometime next week, but I propose to make it a side exit pipe, exiting just behind the rear wheel likie I did on the surf.

My question is though, with the top off, will this create more chance of the fumes entering the cabin area?

side pipe may breach adrs - the vehicle had to come from the factory with a side pipe I think. QLD - pipe must exit to the rear of the vehicle with the pipe ending no less than 40mm from the rearmost welded seam of the cabin.

What you could do (if you have the room) is route the pipe up high near the rear and dump it in a downwards direction (no more than a 45 degree to keep it within regulations) at the end of the pipe. A lot of GQs do this with great success.

Well, the job is now done. it actually exists on a 45 degree angle behind the rear wheel - maybe its just my immagination, but I seem to not get any fumes now, where before I was - probably something to do with the aerodynamics, or lackof ;-)

So now you suggest that the side exit pipe is better??

I have a 1992 Frozi Hard top (snowpack). Taken the lid off it once and was gassed so put it straight back on.
