3.0td hilux - tyre options (cooper)???

Post by Alex »

stupid newbie question warning

Looking at getting new tyres for my current model hilux.. the lousy bridgestones on there didnt last more than 40,000 and I am hoping to upgrade to the cooper st. bloke at tyre shop said that cooper don’t make a tyre to fit???? Seemed very strange to me? Assuming I don’t have nor do I want any lift at this stage what size should I be going for?

Is this true about cooper not having a size?

don't know what that guy was talking about.

I'll be going to 31x105.r15 cooper st as I had on my tj.

Cheers

maybe the roads around Adelaide are different to the rest of Australia but Coopers tyres don't last very long.

What the tyre bloke probably meant is that coopers dont come in 255/75r15. But they do come in 31x10.5r15's, which are slighty larger but are still legal on a lux.

I was also told coopers were not 'load rated' for a hilux... but this place only sold bridgestones to suit :) go figure.

31x10.5r15 cooper ats installed today. Not the greatest tyre I know but not the worst by a long shot and fine for what I do with this particular vehicle. As for not lasting the 80,000 they are supposedly under warranty for, I am sure I will have sold the vehicle long before 80,000 comes up.

Thanks for all the advice.
