Rear wheel carrier strength 70 series

Post by Rock Wallaby »

As I have just invested in a set of 32 inch MTR's I am wanting to know if the rear wheel carrier (standard one on the door) would be strong enough to carrier the same size rim and tyre at the moment there is the standard 205/75R16, and if so do I need some sort of spacer to accomodate the larger size

regards

Dan

Apparently it is advised to fit oversize washers to the door hinges to stop them pulling through the body. I am not familiar with the setup but if you have a look, I reckon you should be able to work it out.

any size tyre even standard will eventually take its toll on the door and its hinges
best way to save the door is a rear bar with a swing away tyre carryer not cheap but neither is a door

Best to ring a arb store or kaymar direct on a kaymar rear bar if you don't mind spendin big money
A rear bar for the forty in 03 was $1763 it was a twin pivot bar with tow hitch and only one swing away on it another swing away is about another $500 ruffly ,all depends on how much $ u want to pay or even keep an eye on ebay
