I dont have the codes on the 3Ltr V6 but 14 is usually the code for Ignition Signal on all Toyota EFI engines after 91. It basically means there is no ignition signal to the computer 8 times in succession. If you havent noticed any problems with the way its running then it will be either a fault in the wiring from the ignitor to the computer or the computer itself. Try clearing the codes and checking again. Either pull out the EFI fuse or disconnect the negative battery terminal for 1 minute to clear the codes.
From the 4Runner manual.
Engine lacks power
1 Incorrect ignition timing.
2 Excessive play in distributor shaft.
3 Faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs.
4 Air filter dirty.
5 Spark timomg control system not operating correctly.
6 Faulty ignition coil.
7 Brakes binding (have to be a dickhead)
8 Auto transmission fluid level incorrect.
9 Clutch slipping (dickhead factor again)
10 Fuel filter clogged.
11 EGR system not functioning properly.
12 Use of sub standard fuel (are we all dickheads?)
13 Low or uneven cylinder compression pressures (hope not)
14 Air leak at carby or inlet manifold (or fuel injection system)
15 Dirty or clogged carby (doesn't have one)
In my experience most lack of grunt problems come from the ignition systems.
hope that helps, cheers Struth.
