Drive shaft tech

Post by Wolverine »

If I grind off along this weld will the DC joint come out and will there be any meat left on it that is normally in the tube to attach it to something else.

Or...do I need to cut a bit further down from the weld.

MAKE SENSE?

Its normally pared off in a lathe, then turned back down to spec, fitted into the new or modded shaft and new uni joints installed, then re-balanced.
It is kind of a precision job..... if you have ever seen a shaft blow due to torque, rpm, slight kink in tube surface etc you would understand.

I have had shafts custom built & balanced for as little as $200 and up to $400 using all new components.

if its going on a flange with 10mm bolt holes it will fit...

you just need to machine .5 mm on the locator....at both ends...

middle of the weld dude if u havent got a lathe...lol... use the ultra thin cutting discs for grinders, when u see a line between the 2 materials it should tap off.
