Tyre Prices

Post by dg100 »

i went down to the local tyre dude to get a price on some Simex JT2 34 11.5 r16 to go under my 100series. and he said with rims (just sunnys) it would be $470 each. does this sound about right i will shop around and see what i can find elsewhere.

i then asked the same guy about getting 33 12.5 r16 mtr/s and he said it would be around $440 each .

i thought it was a bit strange that simex's are only 30 bucks more than wranglers.

15" Sunraysia are far cheaper than 16".
15" are around the $50 mark and 16" are around $110.

Be warned also... Steel wheels will be going up in price soon (approx. $10-$15/rim) due to the rising cost of Steel.

16" tyres are generally more expensive than their 15" counterparts due to their higher load carrying capacity and stronger case construction.

It isn't possible to get a 315/75R16 Radial Claw or a BFG in the same size for under $300. A 35x12.50R15 much more likely... but not 16".

When you remove the $110/rim from those prices you get $360 for the 34" Simex and $330 for the 33" Wrangler. They are fairly cheap prices and you are being looked after fairly well. Just query the sizing on the Wrangler... it should be a 285/75R16 (33x11.50R16 roughly) in which case you could probably get the price down a little more.

Hope this helps,
Ryano
